The 2026–2027 Eastern Region Premier Division season will open on Sunday, between Ntaja Rangers and Nselema United at Vision Stadium, the Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) has confirmed.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Elia Nyirongo, ERFA said the league launch and opening match are set to ignite football fever across the region.
The fixture will double as the official curtain-raiser immediately after the launch.
However, as the kickoff date draws near, the fate of the league’s headline sponsorship remains undecided.
Oster Banda, Regional Sales Manager of H Adam Wholesalers, the long-standing backer of the competition, revealed that the proposed sponsorship package for the new season is still awaiting board approval.
“Everything that was proposed as sponsorship for this season is yet to be approved. We are waiting for the directors, who have been out of office, to return, review the proposal and give the green light. That is the status as of now. But we are here, and we will be back,” Banda said.
Last season, H Adam Wholesalers injected a total of K26,120,000 into the Premier Division and a further K15,320,000 into Division One, underwriting the operational costs and elevating the league’s profile.
With the countdown to 31 May underway, all eyes will be on the ERFA secretariat and the H Adam boardroom in the hope that the sponsorship impasse will be resolved in time for the big kickoff.
For now, the pitch is ready, the fixtures are out, and Ntaja Rangers against Nselema United promises to deliver a thrilling start to the new campaign.
