National Product Magazine (NPM) has unveiled the nominations for its 110th End of Year Awards, which celebrate excellence across various industries, products, businesses, and suppliers within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Region, with a special emphasis on Malawi 2063.
The Malawi 2063 development blueprint envisions a robust manufacturing sector which will propel the country to upper middle income economy status.
“We shall position our economy as a competitive player on the global market, exporting services and manufactured
goods and advancing technology,” reads part of Malawi 2063.
The upcoming December event has shortlisted 40 companies from Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique, following a rigorous selection process. Significantly, 70 percent of the nominees are Malawian entities, underscoring NPM’s dedication to promoting local talent, products and innovation.
In an interview with #MBCDigital, NPM’s Chief Executive Officer, Arthur Chinyamula, remarked, “The upcoming awards ceremony will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and companies to share insights and showcase their products and services through presentations. The event will culminate in a dinner and awards presentation, where we will recognize the outstanding achievements of the nominees. Voting for the nominees will be conducted through a Facebook link that we will circulate soon.”
Chinyamula also highlighted that statutory corporations and banks will present their latest innovations and initiatives aimed at fostering a conducive business environment in the region. The event will spotlight products introduced between 2023 and 2024, reflecting the latest developments in customer care and industry growth.
The NPM Awards underscore the magazine’s commitment to driving excellence and economic development within the SADC region, aligning with the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s efforts to promote industrialization as part of Malawi Vision 2063.
Patrick Botha, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Trade, praised NPM for initiating the awards, saying, “We need to become a producing and exporting nation. When publications like National Product Magazine organize such awards, we feel compelled to be part of the process because this initiative recognizes and stimulates production efforts. The more we focus on value addition and export, the better for the country.”
The nominees span a wide range of categories, including manufacturing, banking, food processing, hospitality, and agricultural products export, reflecting the diversity and dynamism of the region’s economy.
