Nkhotakota Fisherman drowns in Lake Malawi

Edson Saini Ngwawi, a local fisherman in Nkhotakota, has died after he drowned at Ngala Fishing Bay along the shore of Lake Malawi.

Nkhunga Police Station’s publicist Andrew Kamanga says Ngwawi, 65, met his fate in the morning hours of 26 April, 2024 when he went fishing but never returned after his canoe was found floating, prompting a search and rescue team which found his body a day later.

Kamanga states medical practitioners at Ngala Health Centre conducted a postmortem and revealed that Ngawi died due to suffocation.
