Several delegates have gathered at the Moroccan Embassy in Lilongwe for the the 25th anniversary of the accession of Moroccan King Mohammed VI to the throne.
Leading the celebrations is the Moroccan Ambassador to Malawi, Abdelkader Naji, joined by several Malawi government officials who are led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo.
In his speech, the ambassador highlighted some of the milestone achievements Morocco has registered since the installation of the king such as the strengthening of bilateral ties with African countries including Malawi.
He has since pledged continued support towards the country’s economic and development projects as well as social programmes to achieve social cohesion and enable citizens access basic services.
On her part, Tembo applauded Moroccans for holding on to their cultural values. She has also emphasized the need to encourage the symbiotic relationship among the two countries, saying Malawi has a lot to learn from Morocco.
Other notable faces at the celebrations include First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Madalitso Kazombo, Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukure, government officials, non-governmental organizations as well as members of the diplomatic society.
