The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing inclusive education in line with Malawi 2063 objectives.
Line minister, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, emphasised this during a session following the symposium on Education Systems Transformation at the Bookings Centre for Universal Education in Washington DC, USA.
She cited initiatives like the National Education Sector Investment Plan for equitable access and quality education and ongoing efforts in drafting a National Inclusive Education Policy and refining the National Inclusive Education Strategy.
She said the Ministry has identified key gaps in the education system, whilst striving for necessary changes to foster inclusivity.
To bolster inclusive education, Wirima stressed the importance of increased funding, diverse teacher training and adapting exams for learners with special needs.
Wirima urged stakeholders to intensify efforts in catering to learners’ needs and fostering equal opportunities for all.
