One of the organisers of the Malawi International Arbitration Centre Symposium, Pempho Likongwe, has announced that everything is in place for the arbitration court, which is expected to begin operations in early September this year.
Likongwe made this statement after receiving a K3 million cheque from Maxson Arnold & Associates, which will contribute towards the symposium.
“We are thankful to Maxson Arnold and Associates and we are surely in need of more support. The Malawi International Arbitration centre is very important to the country as it will help business operators in the country to resolve there issues amicably, privately and fast,” Likongwe said.
Representative of Maxson Arnold and Associates, Sullivan Kagundu, said the initiative is worth the support as it will ease the pressure that local courts currently have and also expressed commitment towards supporting other related initiatives.
The arbitration court will be acting like an alternative dispute resolution hub separate from the commercial division of the High Court.
