LL Police nabs NIS impersonator

Police at Area 3 in Lilongwe have arrested 32-year-old Kennedy Jesias for allegedly posing as a National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer and soliciting money from various individuals on the pretext that he would recruit them as NIS officers.

Lilongwe Police Station spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu, says Jesias had been doing this for quite some time.

Chigalu has since tipped Malawians to be cautious when approached by such con men and report them to police.

The suspect will appear in court soon to face counts of Personating a Person Employed in the Public Service, and Obtaining Money by False Pretenses.

He comes from Njiwa Village, Traditional Authority Mabvwere in Mchinji District.
