AL MAHMOOD FOUNDATION REACHES OUT TO CYCLONE FREDDY SURVIVORS IN CZ

Al-Mahmood Foundation Trust and Islamic Benefit Trust of Lilongwe along with 30 volunteers have distributed relief items to Cyclone Freddy-affected families in Chiradzulu.

The items include food packs, utensils, blankets, clothes, black plastic sheeting and cash for over 1,000 families.

The team braved the adverse weather conditions and rough terrain to ensure that relief items reach the neediest and most vulnerable.

“The overwhelming and painful conditions of the victims jolted the Asian community of Lilongwe into action and hence the response,” said Moulana Arif Ahmed, Co-ordinator for the Response efforts of Cyclone Freddy.

The recipients thanked the organisation for the supplies.

In Chiradzulu, some of the villages affected where the aid has been distributed are Mpumila in Traditional Authority (TA) Wonga, Kalinga in TA Wonga, Masamba in TA Wonga,
Swadick in TA Wonga, Chapola in TA Wonga and Masapula in TA Mpama.

A total of 14 districts in the Southern Region of Malawi have been affected by Cyclone Freddy. – MBC Online Services.
