‎ Govt, CAMFED seek to boost youth development

Ministry of Youth has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) Malawi, formalising a partnership aimed at advancing youth development and strengthening support for girls’ education across the country.

‎Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Youth, Jameson Ndalama, said the partnership has already enabled the ministry to reach thousands of adolescent girls and young women nationwide. Through CAMFED’s support, beneficiaries have accessed education opportunities, skills training, leadership development and pathways to meaningful economic empowerment.

‎Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lilongwe, CAMFED Malawi Executive Director, Suzen Silika, said the structured MOU with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture will enhance knowledge-sharing, promote best practices and support wider adoption of successful interventions across sectors.

‎Silika added that CAMFED has scaled up its education programmes, introducing 2,000 additional secondary school bursaries and supporting 902 more tertiary-level students. She said the organisation remains committed to empowering young people to play a central role in achieving Malawi 2063.

‎She further said the agreement underscores the importance of strong collaboration between government and civil society, with the potential to positively transform communities and contribute to national development.
