Consumers Association of Malawi (CAMA) is urging the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) to consider adjusting fuel prices to avoid what it describes as ‘unnecessary impending fuel scarcity’ that can hurt both the consumer and the economy.
CAMA Executive Director, John Kapito, has made the call in a statement while alleging that MERA has for so long been holding the fuel price increases in the country which he claims has resulted in accumulation of heavy losses by the petroleum oil importers.
Currently, petrol is trading at K2530 per litre while diesel is selling at K2734 per litre.
The last time MERA raised fuel prices was in November last year.
