Lilongwe Dairy eases hospital bedding shortage with blanket donation

In the face of stringent budgets that most public hospitals operate on, Lilongwe Dairy Limited, has stepped in by distributing blankets worth K10.9 million to children’s and maternity wards in four district hospitals: Mzimba, Kasungu, Nkhata Bay, and Salima.

Speaking after handing over the blankets at Mzimba District Hospital, the company’s Sales and Marketing Manager Gabriel Phiri said they are aware of resource shortfalls in most public hospitals hence prioritising their corporate social responsibility.

Mary Sanga, an expectant mother at Mzimba District Hospital, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, noting that the donation was timely as many patients had not been provided with blankets by the hospital.

Mzimba District Hospital Nursing and Midwifery officer, Beatrice Kaluwa, admitted that the hospital does not have enough bedding and hailed Lilongwe Diary’s intervention.
