Ntchisi youths empowered through tailoring

Technical Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education Training Authority, (TEVETA) has trained 97 youths in tailoring as part of the World Vision International’s Improving Livelihoods Programme, funded through Ntchisi District Council.

Addressing the graduates  at Chipokosa Youth Resource Centre on Thursday, Chairperson for Ntchisi District Council, Arnold Kapolo urged them to leverage the training they received for economic independence.

Kapolo also urged other NGOs to emulate World Vision’s gesture, pointing out the importance of economic empowerment for youth in both personal and national development.

As part of the programme, each graduate walked away with a sewing machine.

Ntchisi District Youth Officer, Grey Kalampa, advised them against selling the start-up equipment.
