People of Mzimba Solora have expressed their continued support to the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and its leadership.
They made the pledge at Zuwachulu Primary School in Mzimba District during a political meeting addressed by MCP’s Director of Elections for North South, Kondwani Phiri and a parliamentary aspirant, Mathias Kanjere Mgemezulu.
Phiri said the large turn-up during is a testimony of the support that the party is enjoying in the area.
Mgemezulu, who is MCP’s Deputy National Director of Elections, said Mzimba Solora is benefiting from development projects initiated by State President Dr Lazarus Chakwera.
During the meeting, a number of high profile members from UTM defected to the ruling MCP.
Emmanuel Banda, one of the defectors from UTM, cited ‘lack of leadership in the party’ as the major reason for their defection.
The meeting was also spiced by football and netball matches.
