Maranatha Academy has rewarded five students who achieved single-digit positions in the recently released Mock 3 examinations, with the institution’s top-performing learner, Ruth Kanduku, receiving K2 million.
Four other students who also attained outstanding results were each awarded K500,000 during a colourful presentation ceremony held at the school.
Speaking during the event, Managing Director Ernest Kaonga said the initiative is aimed at motivating students to work harder and strive for academic excellence.
“We want our students to understand that hard work pays. These rewards are meant to inspire not only the winners, but every learner at Maranatha Academy to aim higher,” said Kaonga.
He added that the school remains committed to creating an environment where both students and staff are motivated to perform at their best.
“Our teachers and administrators have played a huge role in these results. When staff are motivated and appreciated, learners also benefit through quality education and improved performance,” added Kaonga.
In recognition of the role played by staff members, the academy has awarded a 20 percent salary increment to teachers and a 30 percent increment to administrators.
The development has generated excitement among students, parents and members of staff, with many describing the initiative as a strong motivation ahead of future examinations.
Kaonga further announced that another K2 million prize will be available for the top-performing student in the upcoming fourth mock examinations.
