WORLEC, Oxfam engage electoral stakeholders in Nsanje

Stakeholders in Nsanje have hailed WOLREC and Oxfam for their commitment to have a violent free 2025 election.

Traditional Authority Nyachikadza said the two organisations have been active on the ground in the district.

“Traditional leaders sometimes stop candidates from holding a political rally, which also fuels violence. We have learnt today that we have to give equal opportunity to all candidates,” said Nyachikadza.

Malawi Congress Party District Chairman, Steven Kamanga, said through the meeting they had with WOLREC, they have come up with a better plan for conducting primary elections to avoid political violence.

WORLEC project officer for promoting Gender Transformation and Youth Inclusive Democracy project in Malawi, Ireen Ntonga, said they are promoting free and fair elections by encouraging women, youth and those with disabilities to play active political roles.

She appealed to all political parties to ensure a violent free campaign period.
