Ekhaya’s first goal against Karonga came in the 7th minute through Chimwemwe Yasin, with a Clever Chikwata’s throughball, as he rounded Karonga United keeper McLean Mwale to score into an empty net.
Chikwata himself got his name on the scoresheet in the 4th minute of added time in the second half and this was enough to earn him the man-of-the-match accolade.

Ekhaya’s Stanley Biliati was dangerous on the right and James Lumbe on the centre with penetrative passes but was replaced in the 35th minute with Innocent Msowoya.
In the second half, Karonga had their first serious threat in the 50th minute when Nature Kaonga’s attempt missed the upright post after noting Ekhaya’s keeper, Elias Missi, out of position.
Moments later, Ekhaya came again with Biliati but his cross was wasted by alovemore Mbeta.

Karonga United’s Assistant Coach, Chris ‘Crespo’ Chimkwita, said his side lost possession in the first half and failed to utilise chances they created in the second half.
“Minus the results, I am happy for my boys it’s only just a few things that we need to iron out,” Chimkwita said.
The winning coach, Enos Chatama, said he wanted his side to kill the game in the first 30 minutes.
“It was a tough game. In the first half, we controlled the proceedings and played good football. The only problem is the killer instinct infront of goal. In the second half, it was a difficult game because Karonga were playing long balls,” Chatama said.
Elsewhere at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji, Kamuzu Barracks saw a goalless draw against Creck Sporting.
That result moved them 4th with 10 points while Creck moved 14th with 5 points.

After 90 minutes, Creck’s Ng’andu was voted the man of the match.
Creck’s Coach, Harry Saidi described the draw as not bad for his team.
“We are happy with the result but we expect another game this Sunday, so we need to try our best to get the maximum points,” he said.
Kamuzu Barracks’ coach, Nicholas Mhango, said his players’ performance was very wrong.
“We did not prepare well for this game maybe this is the reason why we have underperformed,” Nkhoma remarked.
