Principal Education Officer (PEO) for Likoma, Lizzie Chembezi, is optimistic that education projects being implemented in Likoma District will help to improve the performance of learners.
Chembezi said this on Tuesday in Likoma at the end of a two day Joint Project Monitoring visit which was aimed at appreciating projects being implemented in the district such as construction of school libraries under Community Development Fund (CDF) and school blocks under Malawi Education Reform Programme (MERP).
“The libraries, will stock various books and learners will be accessing them in the process gaining more knowledge. At the moment, we are having challenges when it comes to learning blocks, I am happy to say that, these problems will be alleviated in many schools in the district as learners will be learning in a conducive environment thereby enhancing their performance as well,” said Chembezi.
Headteacher for Chima Primary School, Weston Minofu, described the library construction as a very important structure which will increase a reading culture among learners on the island.
Minofu said:“The Library is very important, we are very glad that the libraru is close to completion and learners will be enjoying its services. We are also blessed to have been given three classroom blocks and since the enrollment at Chima primary school is increasing now and then, construction of these classroom blocks will alleviate these problems.”
