Graduates from Exploits University have been challenged to use their education to transform communities and contribute to Malawi’s development.
During the university’s 2026 graduation ceremony held in Lilongwe, Director of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Fritz Kadyoma, said higher education is critical to achieving the goals of Malawi 2063.
“Human capital development remains one of the most critical pillars of national development,” said Kadyoma.
Kadyoma further said the government remains committed to expanding access to quality education and promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and skills development.
Exploits University President, Professor Desmond Bikoko, urged graduates to become innovators and job creators capable of addressing challenges facing society.
“The world does not only need employees, it needs creators, innovators, problem solvers and leaders,” said Professor Bikoko.
Prof. Bikoko added that graduates should use the knowledge and resilience gained during their studies to make a positive impact in their communities.
During the ceremony, Chairperson of the University Council Gift Nankhuni encouraged the graduates to embrace innovation and adaptability as they enter the world of work.
“The degree that you are getting today is your licence to think, but most importantly it is also a licence to act,” said Nankhuni.
The ceremony, held under the theme: ‘Moving Forward with Purpose: Building Malawi Vision 2063,’ brought together government officials, university management, parents and graduates to celebrate academic achievement and nation-building. A total of 1000 students graduated with Degrees in various academic disciplines including Accountancy and Business Administration.
