Microfinance Institutions seek partnerships to overcome digital divide

Malawi Microfinance Network says weak and lack of digital connectivity is affecting the operations of many microfinance institutions in bringing their services closer to rural communities in the country.

Robert Kapyepye, the network’s Chief Executive Officer said this in Lilongwe when Select Financial Services launched its new office branch and a new way of accessing loans.

According to Kapyepye, microfinance institutions are eager to collaborate with various partners to strengthen the sector.

Terancie Nsamala, Board Chair of Select Financial Services, hailed the launch as a significant milestone in expanding their company’s reach and increasing access to their services for both rural and urban populations.

Select Financial Services started operating in 2011 and so far it has 4 branches and 29 satellite offices.
