French energy company donates solar system to Mangochi Orphans and Education Training School

A French energy company, Voltalia, has given hope to hundreds of vulnerable children learning at Mangochi Orphans and Education Training School (MOET) following the installation of a solar system to help generate electricity at the school campus.

According to the company, the solar system project has been funded through well-wishers to provide a reliable source of electricity and ensure that children can learn without interruptions caused by power outages.

In his remarks, Managing Director for MOET School, Patterson Majonanga, described the donation as a significant step that will have a positive impact on the learners and the school as a whole.

“We are grateful to Voltalia Company for this support, because it will help reduce costs incurred when using diesel generators during electricity blackouts,” said Majonanga.

“It’s a great example of how innovative solutions can improve access to quality education and promote sustainable development,” he added.

Apart from the solar system, the company, in partnership with H.E. Jackson Engineering, has also donated a water pump to help the school draw water from Lake Malawi for use at the institution.

Mangochi Orphans and Education Training School (MOET), which has a total of about 435 learners, started its operations in 1999.
