Foundation bemoans red tape in development projects

Vice President Dr Michael Usi has acknowledged that corruption is suffocating development efforts in some parts of the country.

Dr Usi was responding to reports that some government officials including authorities at Blantyre City Council (BCC) and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) demanded kickbacks from German investors, Landt Foundation.

The Vice President, who met the investors, has since warned that the government will deal with all corrupt officials.

Earlier today, the CEO of Landt Foundation, Aaron Landt, revealed to reporters in Blantyre that authorities had demanded financial kickbacks to expedite their projects across the country.
