A total of 96 girls and boys from Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts have graduated with certificates after a three-week training on preventing Gender Based Violence (GBV) among adolescent girls and young women – AGYWs.
The training, conducted by Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) through Dreams project, aims to empower AGWYs aged 10 to 24 to reduce HIV and sexual violence risks by providing access to social asset building and health services.
Moses Chibwana, Country Director for DAPP, said the girls have been imparted with many skills that include self-defence.
The five-year programme, now in its second year, targets 24,000 adolescent girls and young women from the two districts.
