Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima says the commitment by the government of the Republic of Korea to partner African countries will unlock the continent’s development potential.
Speaking at the Korea-Africa Summit in Kintex, Vice President Chilima commended Korea for successfully hosting the conference, which has attracted a lot of African leaders.
Dr Chilima notes that the partnership between Korea and Malawi will be key in transform the country into an inclusively wealthy, self-reliant and industrialized upper middle-income country by 2063.
He says it is for this reason that the Malawi government devised the ATM strategic approach, with an emphasis on investments in the growth sectors of Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining.
Meanwhile, Seoul has pledged US$10 billion Official Development Assistance to facilitate cooperation between Africa and Korea.
The conference is being held under the theme “The Future We Make Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability, and Solidarity”.
