MPICO Plc has donated K6.5 million to the Malawi Institute of Architects in support of its annual general meeting scheduled to take place in Blantyre from 27 to 29 May 2026.
Speaking during a cheque presentation ceremony in Lilongwe, MPICO Plc General Manager Stella Sokosa said the company decided to sponsor the annual conference because architects are key partners in the construction and property development industry.
Sokosa said architects play a critical role in shaping infrastructure development and urban growth in the country.
“As MPICO, a property manager and developer, we felt it was important to support architects because they are central to the work that we do. They envision the structures that are built and help shape our cities,” said Sokosa.
She added that the sponsorship reflects MPICO’s commitment to strengthening partnerships within the construction sector and supporting development that contributes to the country’s growth and beautification.
Vice President of the Malawi Institute of Architects, Dorothy Nyong’onya, welcomed the support, describing it as timely and significant for preparations towards the AGM.
Nyong’onya said the conference will focus on challenges affecting the construction industry amid economic challenges.
“We are grateful to MPICO for providing a platform for architects to discuss the challenges facing the sector and explore possible solutions,” she said.
She added that some of MPICO’s ongoing projects will also be used as case studies during discussions at the conference.
The meeting will be held under the theme: “Architecture at the Crossroads: Resilient Construction in Volatile Economic Environments.”
