Fuel price expected to drop by 30% – Mozambique Envoy

The Mozambique High Commissioner to Malawi, Alexandre Manjate, has indicated that the price of fuel could reduce by 30 percent if the government continues utilising rail over road transport.

The High Commissioner said this in Mozambique while welcoming Malawian journalists who are on a media tour in the country.

Manjate said that aside from price reduction, the move could significantly reduce the time taken for fuel to arrive in Malawi by over 10 hours.

He has urged Malawian authorities and the private sector to utilise Mozambique’s ports and rail system.

Last month, the country received 580,000 litres of fuel via rail for the first time in 21 years.
