The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has vetted 204 out of 224 candidates who will participate in the party’s convention at the Bingu International Convention Centre from August 8 to 10, 2024.
Convention Chairperson Kezzie Msukwa announced that the Malawi Electoral Commission will oversee the electoral process to ensure transparency and credibility.
Among the candidates, six individuals—including Simplex Chithyola Banda, Chris Chaima Banda, Eisenhower Mkaka, and Richard Chimwendo Banda will compete for the position of Secretary General.
Meanwhile, the First Vice President position will be contested by Catherine Gotani Hara, Moses Kunkuyu, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, and Kezzie Msukwa.
Msukwa emphasized that the approved candidates were selected based on their experience and unwavering commitment to the party.
