BT Mayor against street vending

Blantyre City’s new Mayor, Joseph Makwinja, has urged vendors to refrain from conducting their businesses along the city’s main roads.

Makwinja said it is saddening to note that the market has benches that are currently unoccupied, which can be utilised by most businesses.

The newly elected Mayor for Blantyre made the remarks while touring Blantyre Market to engage with market authorities.

He was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police for South West Region, Noel Kayira, the Deputy Mayor, Isaac Osman and other city officials.
