In the 2023 HTD- FAM Beach Soccer National Championship at Sunbird Nkopola Leisure Centre in Mangochi, Vinthenga from Nkhotakota has thrashed NOIL from Karonga by 10 goals to four in the first match of the competition.
Despite a three-nill lead by NOIL in the early minutes of the first period, Vinthenga managed to turn the game around.
Kumbukani Phiri scored five goals, Obet Liwewe grabbed three while Dala Simba and Isaac Jawado scored a goal each for Vinthenga.
Watson Simbeye scored three goals and Hammis Phiri scored one for NOIL.
Coach for Vinthenga, Amos Kandomo, said hard work helped his team to win the match after coming from behind.
Coach for NOIL, Gally Hara, said his team is new to the competition and have learnt a lot which will help them to do better in the next match.
In another match, Sunbird Nkopola from Mangochi was playing against Deep Bay from Karonga.
