K2.5BN for restoration of piped water — CRWB

The Central Region Waterboard (CRWB) needs over K2 billion to repair the water pipe systems that were damaged by floods in Nkhotakota and Salima districts.

CRWB Board member, Moses Chakana, revealed that they are planning, in the long term, to pump water from Lake Malawi to their customers to address water and sanitation challenges.

Chakana said that approximately K1 billion was lost due to the erosion of pipes and meters.

It has temporarily fixed some pipes to ensure there is access to safe water.
