MCP to hold more development rallies

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has pledged to continue holding more development rallies to strengthen the party as the 2025 polls are fast approaching.

MCP’s Regional Chairperson, Patrick Chilondola, said the party’s executives have already endorsed President Dr Lazarus Chakwera as the torch bearer.

He announced this on Sunday during a rally held at Mchezi Ground, Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe.

The area’s Parliamentarian, Weston Kaimapanjira, said the rally was organised as a way of consolidating the party’s structures.

MCP’s Director of Youth, Richard Chimwendo Banda, then urged the populace to rally behind Dr Chakwera for continued development.

He also assured people of Chiwamba in Lilongwe that they will benefit from various development initiatives such as the introduction of economic zones like the Magwero Industrial Park.

“I came in this area to explain to the people that Dr Chakwera is the only hope for all Malawians. Government will continue with the Mtukula Pakhomo initiative which has helped lives of rural masses,” Chimwendo Banda said.

Gender Minister, Jean Sendeza, then urged people to protect rights of the elderly and girls whilst assuring that the government is committed to supporting the needy.
