Chakwera hails Rotary International for health sector support

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has applauded Rotary International for its continued commitment to helping the government improve the health sector through various health interventions.

Dr Chakwera has said this at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe where he met president of the Rotary International, Gordon Mclnally.

President Chakwera also cited the role Rotary International played in eradicating polio when the country was hit by a polio outbreak.

He says this is a symbol of the Rotary’s commitment to helping the county improve the health sector.

Dr Chakwera has since called on the Rotary International to partner with the government in different areas and support it in its quest to achieve the 2063 development aspirations.

Mclnally says Rotary International will continue to help Malawi in different ways by ensuring there is grant funding for its projects through Malawi Rotary.

McInally arrived in the country on Tuesday for a three-day visit.

He is also expected to visit Nigeria, Chad, Rwanda, South Africa and Egypt.
