The 2025 TNM Super League has reached the halfway point, with 120 matches played. The table is full of surprises—some sweet, some bitter.
At the top, unbeaten Mighty Wanderers lead the first round with 35 points, just one point ahead of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
Close behind, Silver Strikers sit third with 30 points. Last season at this stage, Silver were first with 37 points, Wanderers were second with 28, Mzuzu City Hammers third with 25, and Bullets fourth with 23.
Current top three stats:
Wanderers: 10 wins, 5 draws, 0 losses, 23 goals scored, 7 conceded
Bullets: 11 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses, 33 goals scored, 8 conceded
Silver: 8 wins, 6 draws, 1 loss, 25 goals scored, 11 conceded
The real surprises are lower down the top half. Rookies Ekhaya FC are in 4th place with 26 points under coach Enos Chatama, who has won many fans with his tactics. Blue Eagles are 7th with 23 points. Karonga United are also having a great season in 5th with 24 points. Civil Service United are 6th with 23, and Kamuzu Barracks are 8th with 22.
Last season’s strong side, Creck Sporting Club, are struggling in 11th with 18 points despite having an expensive squad.
Chitipa United, coached by Kondwa Ikwanga, have not lost at their new Chitipa Stadium—drawing 0-0 with Creck, beating Blue Eagles 1-0 and sitting 9th with 19 points. Their home match against Blue Eagles was historic, as President Lazarus Chakwera became the first sitting president to attend a league match at the venue.
At the bottom, Songwe Border United under Christopher Nyambose are in big trouble with only 2 points and no wins. Mzuzu City Hammers, who were 4th last season, are now 15th with 8 points. Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos are 14th with 15 points and have changed coaches, replacing Andrew Bunya with Alex Ngwira.
So far, 234 goals have been scored. Bullets lead with 33 goals, Silver have 25 and Wanderers 23. Babatunde Adepoju leads the scorers chart with 8 goals, followed by teammate Chikumbutso Salima with 7. John Mchema and Zeliat Nkhoma of Kamuzu Barracks, plus Dastan Banda of Civil, have 6 each.
For assists, Wisdom Mpinganjira (Wanderers) and Blessings Malinda (Civil) top the chart with 7 while Salima has 6.
In goalkeeping, Karonga United’s keeper leads with 8 clean sheets. Jacob Anyandwile (Chitipa), Joshua Waka (Blue Eagles), and Innocent Nyasulu each have 7 while Elias Missi (Ekhaya) has 6.
Beyond the stats, the first round has been full of late goals, heartbreaks and coach sackings. If the first 120 games are anything to go by, the second round promises even more drama.
