Minister of Trade and Industry, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, is set to depart for Maputo, Mozambique, where he will lead Malawi’s delegation to the 2025 Maputo International Trade Fair, taking place from 25 to 31 August at the FACIM-Ricatla grounds in Marracuene District.
Malawi is looking to leverage this year’s fair to attract more investment opportunities and secure concrete trade deals and partnerships. The FACIM continues to provide a key platform for strengthening trade and investment linkages within the region and beyond.
Mumba has previously emphasised that the shared borders between Malawi and Mozambique should not be viewed as barriers but rather as gateways to mutual prosperity. In line with this vision, the two governments have signed a Simplified Trade Regime Agreement and launched the Dedza/Calomue One-Go Border Post, initiatives designed to ease cross-border trade.
Major Malawian corporations expected to exhibit at the fair include ADMARC, Press Trust, Press Cane, and the National Bank of Malawi. In addition, at least 15 Malawian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will showcase their products and services at the event.
On Tuesday, Minister Mumba, alongside his Mozambican counterpart Basilio Muhate, Minister of Economy, is scheduled to join a panel discussion on the Malawi–Mozambique Simplified Trade Regime Agreement and the recently renamed One-Go Border Post.
This year’s edition of the Maputo International Trade Fair has attracted participation from around 40 countries worldwide, reaffirming its status as a premier platform for regional and global trade engagement.
