Government has described the death of Senior Chief Malemia of Nsanje as a big loss to the nation.
Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu, represented President Dr Lazarus Chakwera during prayers for the late Senior Chief.
“The President is saddened that the country has lost a dedicated leader who was also committed to serving the government besides being selfless in spreading the word of God as a pastor,” said Kunkuyu.
The prayers took place at the Shalom Tabernacle of the Bible Believers Church where he was a resident pastor.
Born Lameck Msamange, Senior Chief Malemia, was also known as Pastor Msamange. He also played a crucial role in the construction of the railway line to Marka.
Senior Chief Malemia has died aged 68 whilst serving as a board member for Southern Region Water Board (SRWB).
He is survived by seven children and 12 grandchildren. His body will be laid to rest at his home village in Nsanje District.
