Police at Mpingu in Lilongwe have recovered an unlicensed pistol along with eight live bullets and apprehended two suspects, while a third remains at large.
Hastings Chigalu, Lilongwe Police Station’s publicist, says the trio attempted to sell the firearm for K1.5 million but law enforcers swiftly intervened following a tip-off.
One suspect managed to evade arrest, stashing the weapon in his residence before disappearing.
The captured suspects, identified as brothers Godfrey and Sackson Mbewe, had acquired the gun during their decade-long stay in South Africa.
Both hail from Mwadzama Village, Traditional Authority Khombeza, in Salima.
