President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has called for flexibility in the accessibility of International Development Association (IDA) facilities, stressing the importance of partnerships in fostering a new Malawi which will be characterised by a robust and productive economy, particularly within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Addressing delegates at the IDA Heads of State Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, Dr. Chakwera articulated Malawi’s aspiration to achieve an inclusive and prosperous middle-income economy within the next six years.
Central to this vision is the establishment of Mega-Farms aimed at global food provision, utilizing advanced irrigation technologies resilient to weather fluctuations.
At 5PM, Dr Chakwera is expected to arrive in the country through the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe.
