Chileka Police Station has urged men to seek psychological support when experiencing suicidal thoughts and to speak openly about issues affecting their mental health.
Station Officer, Levison Kapangalika, made the remarks in Blantyre at Lunzu Market’s Residential Training Centre.
Kapangalika encouraged open conversations to create safe spaces for individuals to share their feelings and struggles.
He highlighted that problems shared reduce stigma and promote empathy and understanding about suicide.
Lunzu Police Unit’s Kelly Bulambo said people should pay attention to warning signs of suicide such as changes in behaviour, mood and speech, which may indicate suicidal thoughts.
Bulambo further encouraged all stakeholders to provide accessible support to all concerned parties to ensure easy access to mental health resources, such as counselling, hotlines and support groups.
