Democracy Works Foundation (DWF) has affirmed that a training module for political party caucuses is essential for enhancing the performance of Members of Parliament.
DWF Regional Director, Augustine Magolowondo, made the remarks during a pilot training of the module held in Lilongwe.
According to Magolowondo, the training module aims to orient and train parliamentarians on various sectors of politics to foster collaboration and strong relations between parliamentarians and their political parties, which will also promote Parliament’s performance.
He said the coordination between political parties and their party representatives in the August House is important in improving functionality of political parties, members and democracy which is crucial in handling the needs of the public.
Developer of the training module, Henry Chingaipe, said it will play a crucial role in the governance of the country.
Political party caucuses are meetings held by parliamentarians to discuss various current issues in preparation for parliamentary sittings.
