World Food Programme (WFP) has handed over a genset aimed at improving efficiency in handling grain at the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA).
According to WFP Country Director, Paul Turnbull, they have donated the Genset to address the problem of electricity outage that hinder efficient maize processing during critical lean season responses.
Meanwhile NFRA Board Chairperson, Denis Kalekeni, said they will now be loading and offloading maize regardless of blackouts.
The Genset has been installed by the Department of Disaster Management Affairs.
Commissioner for the Department, Charles Kalemba, said the power backup will help in moving with speed and reach out to people in the country with maize.
