Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has expressed its commitment towards creating awareness and fostering a safer digital environment for all Malawians.
MACRA said this in a statement after rolling out the ‘Secure Your WhatsApp’ campaign to address the growing cases of WhatsApp hacking and fraud across the country.
The campaign aims to educate users on enhancing their account security by enabling Two-Step Verification—an essential measure to protect personal information and prevent unauthorised access.
The rise in WhatsApp-related fraud has seen scammers gaining access to accounts and impersonating users to solicit money from their contacts.
MACRA is also urging the public to stay vigilant, think twice, and always verify the authenticity of any requests before sending money.
