BALAKA POLICE INTENSIFIES FIGHT AGAINST LIVESTOCK THEFT

Balaka Police is stepping up its efforts to combat livestock theft particularly goats in the district.

In a recent meeting with the Balaka Butchers Association, Officer In-charge Senior Superintendent Dan Sauteni emphasized the importance of collaboration with the local community.

“We cannot work alone in preventing crimes. Engaging with butchers and the community is crucial for a safe and secure Balaka,” Sauteni said.

The police have since assured their full support to the association’s goal of a livestock crime-free year.

Community Policing Coordinator, Robert Njalam’mano,  pledged close cooperation in spreading crime prevention messages.

Some of the security measures include authorized slaughterhouses, valid certification for livestock buyers and mobile public awareness campaigns. One of the participants Sani Sumani of Ngwangwa Butchery hailed the police for their intervention.
