Political analysts have described the running mates being unveiled by the competing presidential aspirants as a ‘missed opportunity’.
The analysts, Nandin Patel and Annie Sainala, say the running mates chosen so far, do not add more value or bring new votes to their affiliated parties but rather could trigger party divisions and dormancy.
Patel cited an example of Jane Ansah as one of the running mates with a bad public image after mismanaging the 2019 polls, besides not being allegedly warmly welcomed by some senior DPP members.
Some of the running mates unveiled so far include Khumbo Kachale for People’s Party, Jane Ansah for Democratic Progressive Party, Rex Kalolo for United Democratic Front, Bertha Ndebele for People’s Development Party and Mathews Mtumbuka for UTM.
