BT residents urged to safeguard water project infrastructure

The Blantyre City Council has urged Blantyre residents to support the ongoing K255 billion water project in the city and report any vandalism acts done to the newly installed infrastructure.

The plea was made at a joint meeting involving the council, Blantyre Water Board, and religious leaders at Mount Soche Hotel.

One of those who attended, Reverend Dr Charles Makata of First Assembly Church, said the project is a milestone towards achieving Malawi’s developmental goals.

The project which aims at increasing access to improved water supply and sanitation services in Blantyre and surrounding areas, will involve the construction of a storage reservoir, upgrading of water distribution pipes, and construction of communal water points in low-income areas, among others.
