Nkhata-Bay district seeks support on relocation of flood victims

Nkhata-Bay District Council is hoping for urgent relocation and support for flood-affected households who have been residing at Chithowe Primary School.

McVinly Kamata, the Principal Education Officer for the district, said this at Chinthenche when Mzuzu Institute of Technology and Innovation (MZITI) assisted 50 affected households in the area of Traditional Authority Malanda in the district.

MZITI donated maize flour with the support of the Segal Family, citizens of the United States of America.

Bishop Joseph Simenza, MZITI Executive Board Member, said they were sympathetic hence the move.

One of the beneficiaries, Axer Chirwa from Chondasi Village in Traditional Authority Malanda, described their situation as pathetic since houses continue to collapse every day in the area.
