First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera has donated medical supplies and assorted food and nonfood items to the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
Presenting the donation on her behalf, Presidential Advisor on Safe Motherhood, Dorothy Ngoma, said the assistance is meant to both enhance service delivery and reduce the plight of those in need.
Controller of Hospital Administration Services, Sipho Nyasulu, thanked the First Lady for the gesture, describing it as timely.

Among the donated items are surgical equipment, blankets, 30 bags of maize flour weighing 50 kilogrammes each and 100 kilogrammes of beef.
During the event, State House women also served lunch to patients and guardians at the facility.According to Nyasulu, QECH as a referral hospital with 766 bed capacity, registers about 1000 admissions every day
