Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi (FAWEMA) has stressed the need to empowering the youths with vocational skills so that they become reliable citizens.
FAWEMA Board Chairperson, Maggie Madimbo said this at Salima Technical College after presenting workshop gear to students under their support from Mastercard Foundation
Madimbo said they will continue supporting needy students so that they help the development of the country in realising the Malawi 2063 agenda.
She urged the youths to work hard so that they help in improving their families and said that FAWEMA, through the programme, is giving marginalised youths a second chance for increased access to tertiary education.
Principal for Salima Technical College, Benson Zigona, urged other well-wishers to consider supporting students with protective equipment as government alone cannot reach out to all the students.
A beneficiary of the project Martha Julias hailed FAWEMA for the timely support saying it will change livelihoods.
With support from Mastercard Foundation, FAWEMA is supporting 200 students from six technical colleges across the country and the project started in 2024 and expected to end in 2030.
