Dedza District Council has approved its 2025/2026 budget to K45.3 billion with a call for citizens to track down public resources.
According to the Approved budget statement, K44.887 billion will come from the Central Government while the locally generated revenue is estimated at K339 million.
Chairperson for Finance Committee for Dedza District Council, Themuka Mkhwewu, said the budget is people-centred, that will cater for expenditure over a period of 12 months from April this year to March 2026.
“This financial year our budget has increased by 20% as compared last year budget, this is people centred budget, specific allocation to road infrastructure development and citizens are suppose to follow up this budget,” Mkhwewu said.
Senior Chief Kachere welcomed the budget, saying it will help improve service and development.
The Health Sector has got a 40% share, Education 35% while the council secretariat has received 11% and agriculture 4%, among other sectors.
