7 NABBED FOR THEFT

Police in Lilongwe have arrested seven men for allegedly stealing motorcycles and secondhand clothes (Kaunjika) all valued at K155 Million from a Chinese National.

The suspects are said to have connived with security guards to break into a warehouse belonging to a Chinese national at Area 4, where the crime was committed.

Lilongwe Police Publicist, Hastings Chigaru said the stolen items were partially recovered in Lilongwe’s Area 25 and 50 last month, with additional items retrieved today in Nkhotakota.

“A police raid at the suspects’ houses in the wee hours of [today] Monday, recovered six motorcycles, whilst the other five, were recovered at Nkhota-kota Boma,” said Chigaru.

The suspects have been identified as Davie Livalo, 34, Paul Mkambeni, 36, Aaron Jere, 29, Chifundo Makele, 29, Ken Mbewe, 29, Tamandani Matope, 27, Chifuniro Makele, 29, and Chifundo Phiri, 25.

Meanwhile, a manhunt has been initiated for a lead suspect in the crime famously identified as Nana among his peers, who is on the run with other suspects.
