MW TO HAVE FIRST VACCINE STORE

Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daudi says the ministry is satisfied with the progress of construction of a vaccine store which is being funded by GAVI to the tune of K900 million.

Daudi made the remarks after touring the construction site at Central Medical Stores in Lilongwe.

Daudi said the construction of the first-ever vaccine store in the country will increase the national vaccine supply chain and will help the government save money which is used for rentals.

“Huge amount of money from Central Medical Stores goes into paying rentals where drugs and vaccines are kept, With this development the money for rentals will be used to purchase more medicines,” said Daudi.

However, the deputy minister expressed concern over the delay in the contractor’s work saying the project was supposed to finish by December last year.

According to the contractor, the vaccine store project will be complete by June this year.
