Maranatha Academy mourns Dr Chomo

Maranatha Academy is mourning the death of one of its most outstanding former students, Dr Favour Atughanile Chomo, who was found dead at her home, Mount Pleasant in Blantyre.

In a statement signed by the school’s Director, Ernest Kaonga, the academy described the news as heartbreaking and said the entire Maranatha family is in mourning.

“It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we have received the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved alumna, Dr Favour Atughanile Chomo,” the statement reads.

Dr Chomo graduated from Maranatha Academy as the top-performing student in her class. She later returned to serve the institution, becoming more than just a former student.

“Dr Chomo was not only one of Maranatha Academy’s brightest students, but also our daughter. She returned to serve the academy with dedication and became a friend, mentor and inspiration to many. She earned a scholarship while she was in Form Two,” said Kaonga.

He described her as a remarkable woman whose life touched many people and whose future held great promise.

“Today, we mourn a life that touched so many hearts. We have truly been robbed of one of our finest,” he said.

On behalf of the school’s management, staff and students, Kaonga extended condolences to Dr Chomo’s family, friends and former classmates.
